Our Products:
We think Ohio is a pretty special place
to live and luckily we’re not alone! Many talented
artists and craftspeople make beautiful one-of-a-kind
products through cottage industry. We’ve been about
books for quite a while here at the farm and now we are
proud to offer a gift and product line we feel partners
perfectly with our books and with our life philosophy as
well. Please take time to look around the Farm Market.
And since our gift product line consists of items that
are not mass produced, they are being offered in limited
amounts, so order early!

HEART and HEARTH - CHRISTMAS on the FARM Brand
New!
We hope you’ll be as excited about reading
and giving this new holiday book as we have
been during its creation. Heart and Hearth – Christmas on the Farm,
just like the best Christmas stockings, is
stuffed full of all kinds of neat things –
recollections and recipes, simple, homemade
gift ideas and craft projects – all
sparked with a sprinkling of humor and
illustrated with whimsical full-color
illustrations. Like some of the best things
in life,
Heart and Hearth – Christmas on the Farm
is difficult to describe. It celebrates the
simple things that we enjoy out here on the
farm: family, dogs and cats and goats and
geese and wildlife and the changing seasons,
and most of all: Christmas!
Here is a
sampling of chapters:
Heart and
Home – a patchwork of memories; Deck
the Halls, Wallsand Anything
That Stands Still; Let it Snow, Snow,
Snow; Christmas down in the Red Barn;
Meowy Christmas and Yappy Holidays.
Recipes abound in Farmhouse Brunch,
Recipes for Wintry Days, Christmas
in the Country Kitchen and Save Room
for Dessert – and all are generously
illustrated withNorma Thomas
Herr’s charming watercolors and my own
colored pencil drawings.
You might like
to try your hand at our daughter Ellen’s
Blue Ribbon Chili – it won first
place at the county fair! A pan full of Good
Neighbor Sue’s Cinnamon Rolls fills
the house with the cinnamon-y, buttery good
smell of baking. Try my Lemon Shortbread
or my sister Hope’s Hot Buttered Rum
to chase away the chill of a winter’s
night.
Heart and Hearth – Christmas on the Farm
is a spiral-bound gift book brimming with
country wisdom and humor, recipes, easy
projects and gift how-tos, and even a little
poetry, in chapters with titles like:
NotEven a Mouse; Deck the Halls,
Walls and Anything Else that Stands Still;
Let it Snow, Snow, Snow; Born in a Barn
and Meowy Christmas and Yappy Holidays
When the holiday season arrives, I polish up
the jars of jelly and bottles of herb
vinegars lined up in the pie safe since
summer, and ready them for Christmas giving.
While creating special gifts for family or
friends, my thoughts turn fondly to each
recipient and I hope each feels the warmth
and affection that infuses every gift.
Many recipes from my collection and those
lovingly provided by friends and family
contain more than measurements and
ingredients. Fond memories are found
throughout the book in chapters such as:
Farmhouse Brunch, Christmas in the Country
Kitchen, Save Room for Dessert and
Recipes for Wintry Days.
Togetherness, laughter, handmade gifts and
home-cooked food, music, a fire on the
hearth – all are at the heart of Christmas
on the farm. Home, family and friends,
animals and nature, these are the things
that bring richness to life. Being able to
celebrate these things through my writing
– that too is a gift from God, and at the
same time my gift to give.

Heritage
Heart Farm Cookie Cutters
AS
SEEN IN HOBBY FARMS HOME MAGAZINE! Jan/Feb
2010!
Meet the
animals from down in the red barn at
Heritage Heart Farm!
The
greatest thing about these limited edition
cookie cutters is that they are
painstakingly handmade by northwest Ohio
tinsmith, Mike Runyon. Exclusive to Heritage
Heart Farm, each cookie cutter is fashioned
after special things on our farm, especially
the feathered and furred, many of which are
featured throughout
Heart and Hearth - Christmas on the Farm.Available singly or as a set of three.
As for quality
– each of these handmade Cookie Cutters is
created by Mike one at a time from heavy
tin. A highly respected artisan in his
field, he creates our original motifs based
on a classic circa 1880 style cutter. The
handle is stiffened and soldered onto the
back plate. This is one solid cookie cutter
and not a machine in sight. Mike doesn’t
even have email! If you are a baker, he
guarantees you will wear out before one of
his cookie cutters does. If you are a
collector, know that cookie cutter
enthusiasts from all over seek out Mike’s
work because of his attention to detail and
authenticity. Mike is a fulltime tinsmith
and is known for his exacting specification
when recreating traditional American tin
ware. Each is signed by the artist, comes
with its own little story on the tag, is
packed in a nest of excelsior and tied up
with a country gingham bow.
Boswell, Rutherford and Moody
Boswell
the Gander. A very proud Chinese
goose, Old Bos came to us a few years ago.
He is no spring chicken, but despite his
years he hasn’t slowed down a bit. He is
the self-appointed guardian of the barnyard,
yet he has a soft heart, too. Any time a
brood of babies is around, he’s right
there making sure they
don’t come to any harm.

Rutherford
the Goat. Rutherford is a Nubian and
anyone who has ever spent any time with one
will tell you that although they are big
boys, they are the crybabies of the goat
world. Rutherford is famous because of his
tendency to put up a fuss at suppertime. He
was on National Public Radio's Soundbites.
We also have
Filbert Thistle – an Alpine cross – who,
along with Rutherford, started out as a 4-H
cart goat – and quickly retired. And there’s
little Lacey, a Nigerian dwarf goat. She may
be small, but she’s the real boss in the
goat pen.

Moody
the Cat.We have been owned by a
variety of cats over the years and all of
them still live in a special place in our
hearts. This cookie cutter not only depicts
Moody, one of our sassy striped boys, but
all our cats, here with us and remembered.

Secret of the Lockkeeper’s House
–Young adult
readers (and adult readers, too) will keep
pages turning as they
venture back
to the rollicking days of the Ohio canals
with cousins Tessa, Will and Patrick in
Georgia Kohart’s time travel mystery
Secret of the Lockkeeper’s House.
Suddenly the lazy summer is
transformed for Tessa and her cousin Will as
they are transported back to 1850 during the
time of the Ohio canals. Kohart has an
excellent ear for adolescent conversation
and also an excellent command of the history
of the Miami and Erie Canal, which she
interweaves into a compelling story for
young readers.

A
Heritage of the Heart
–
Join nurse Elizabeth Hudson as she travels
back in the past and learns not only about
life on the Miami and Erie Canal, but much
about herself in this touching novel A
Heritage of the Heart.
The past lives on the pages of Georgia
Kohart’s A Heritage of the Heart.
Through the character Elizabeth Hudson, we
are drawn into another era, a time when
canal boats slid through the untamed woods
of Ohio. It is as if Kohart pulled the
curtain of the woods back so that we may
take a peek at the lives of some of the
early settlers. We see how they lived, ate,
celebrated, traveled and mourned. Through
these characters we learn that history
happens in the everyday business of living.

Packaging:
Remember when
packages used to come in the mail all
wrapped up and tied up with a string? We do,
too! We want you to feel that same delight
when your package arrives from Heritage
Heart Farm. In addition, we want to keep our
countryside green and growing. Our little
way of helping is making sure as many as
possible of our packing and shipping
products are recycled and/or recyclable and
reusable! Remember Mom keeping the boxes
from one Christmas to the next? Way to go,
Mom!
We Make it
Easier to be Green:
Boxes
– Our shipping cartons are lined with
20-30% recycled material and they are
recyclable.
Packing
Peanuts – The protective packing
peanuts that surround your order are
absolutely biodegradable because they are
made of 100% cornstarch. Simply dump them
into a sink full of warm water and they will
quickly dissolve and rinse cleanly down the
drain. They won’t end up in a landfill and
it’s another way to keep our farmers
growing corn.
Packing
Tissue – Our natural kraft packing
tissue is manufactured with 90% recycled
fibers.
Ribbons and
Ties – Many of our decorative ribbons
are manufactured from biodegradable cotton.
Bows can be recurled and used again.
Raffia
– We use both kinds. Natural raffia is a
plant fiber and biodegradable. The colored
raffia is made from Rayon, but both are
reusable. Reuse our raffia on your own gift
packages and tags. It works well for tying
up gangly garden plants, biodegrading after
a season. Hang natural raffia from tree
branches in the spring and many birds will
snatch up strands for nest making.
