Tim’s
parents, Frank and Gladys, called this farm,
situated between the little Paulding County towns of Oakwood and
Charloe, home
until their deaths. They are the ones who
made the farm the tree shaded place it is
today.
The barn, long empty of life since the days
my husband was a boy, is bustling now. Snow
white homing pigeons sail in and out. Hens
busy themselves about the chicken run while
Boswell the gander leads a small herd of
ducks on their daily foray around the farm.
Rabbits nibble fragrant hay, goats doze in
the sun and Chase the retired harness racing
horse holds court over all.
The farm has been the site of garden parties
and two high school graduation parties; an
autumn
barn dance and in June last year, a
wedding rehearsal barbecue. The granary
served as a backdrop for a bluegrass band
and straw bales served as country style
seats. Little kids waved sparklers as other
guests gathered around the fire ring and
toasted marshmallows for S’Mores. It was a
night we will always hold
lovingly in our hearts and we know it
wouldn't have been the same if it hadn't
been here on the farm.
